Soroptimist International of Napa Orchestrates Success!

“Orchestrating Success” was the Slogan for Soroptimist International of Napa’s President, Teresa Zimny this fiscal year and the successes were clear at The Annual Awards luncheon in June at Embassy Suites!

There was cake to celebrate the club’s 80th Anniversary, Life Member Wanda Lamb was celebrated for her membership in Soroptimist since 1972, Service monies were awarded to several worthwhile organizations supporting the Soroptimist mission to empower women and girls through programs of social and economic empowerment, five $1,000.00 “The Future is You” scholarships were awarded to graduating senior girls and several club awards were given for inspiring and empowering women within Soroptimist International of Napa’s club.

President Teresa Zimny officiated the Awards luncheon, District III Director Joy Swank gave an Inspiration and then President-Elect Christy Michelle Hotard presented the Service Awards.  Johana Naravarro, received $1,000 for NCOE: Mariposa Program, Tracy Lamb was on hand to receive $2,000 for Monarch Family Justice Center to provide a room that is a soft and gentle place for victims to be interviewed.  The MomSquad received $500, Jennifer Hampton was on hand to receive the check and Eva Simonsson also received $500 for Community Resources for Children for their programs.

Next Committee Chair Sarah Williams presented “The Future is You” scholarships.  This scholarship is for graduating senior girls who have overcome extenuating circumstances and are often first time college attendees for their family.  Five recipients were chosen, one from each school.  There were 32 applicants for this second year scholarship!  Chosen were Jocelyn Silvia Vega, Daniela Ramirez-Martinez, Guadalupe Lopez, Jennifer Lopez and Pizano Medina.
